Hurricanes cause big problem to homeowners. There
are two methods to solve this problem:
One is to construct homes so sturdily that the forces of even the most violent hurricane winds can't blow it apart. Good Luck! In some high winds, these houses remain "intact," except that all of the windows are sucked out and the resulting wind and rain damage to the interior is enormous. Unless the house is built of some material, say cement, that is simply too heavy and doesn't expand, there is some wind force that is capable of destroying it. A further problem is that many modern roofs are somewhat permeable to air pressure. Escaping interior air through the roof boards tends to lift the roof cladding and shingles, which are then easily blown away by the wind. So called, "hurricane clips" are one attempt to strengthen a house. By strengthening the attachment points between the roof and the main house structure, they try to help the house and roof structure hold together under the Bernoulli induced (see "How It Works") strains, caused by the hurricane force winds. They do not, however, help to stabilize the roof cladding. The other method that can stabilize houses and roofs during hurricane force winds is to remove the strain on the structure as it begins to build, thereby reducing the need for a super strong house structure from the start. The Windworker ventilation system does just that! The Windworker stops the problem before it becomes serious and dangerous! What the Windworker does is help the built-up air-pressure inside the house to escape fast enough, it actively pulls it out, to allow the pressures inside and outside of the house to equalize and preempts a situation where catastrophic failure might occur. The higher the wind velocity, the better Windworker works to stabilize the otherwise increasing differential in air-pressures. A hurricane clip attempts to strengthen a house to withstand the strain induced on that structure by the hurricane. The Windworker relieves that strain.
